Job Purpose
As a System Administrator (Linux L2), you’ll play a critical role in managing the technical operations and support for SST Infotech’s data center customers. You’ll be responsible for maintaining uptime, ensuring system security, and resolving escalated server and application issues efficiently.
This role requires both technical depth and customer focus — ensuring 100% client satisfaction through proactive support, timely troubleshooting, and system optimization.
Key Responsibilities
The Linux L2 System Administrator will manage core technical operations in a multi-tenant data center and cloud hosting environment. Below are the primary responsibilities:
System Management
- Install, configure, and maintain Linux (CentOS, Ubuntu, AlmaLinux) and Windows Server systems.
- Perform regular OS updates, kernel patches, and security hardening.
- Manage VMware ESXi/vCenter, including VM creation, snapshots, and resource allocation.
- Administer cPanel/WHM, Plesk, Apache, Nginx, IIS, and other hosting control panels.
- Configure SSL/TLS certificates, reverse proxies, redirects, and load balancers.
Hosting & DNS Administration
- Host and maintain multiple client websites and applications, ensuring uptime and performance.
- Manage DNS records (A, MX, CNAME, TXT, PTR, SPF, DKIM, DMARC) via BIND or control panels.
- Troubleshoot web, DNS, and email-related issues effectively.
Database & Mail Management
- Administer MySQL, MariaDB, and Microsoft SQL Server databases — including backups, replication, and query optimization.
- Configure and manage Zimbra Mail Server and Proxmox Mail Gateway for spam filtering and email delivery.
- Resolve SMTP, IMAP, and POP3 issues while maintaining email security and compliance.
Automation & Scripting
- Create Bash, Python, or PowerShell scripts for automation of routine tasks like backup, monitoring, and maintenance.
- Implement system backup solutions using rsync, JetBackup, R1Soft, or Acronis.
- Use monitoring tools like Zabbix, Nagios, Grafana, or Netdata to ensure infrastructure health.
Security & Compliance
- Conduct system hardening, log analysis, and vulnerability scans.
- Maintain security compliance and ensure servers meet company standards.
- Manage user permissions, SSH keys, and file system quotas.
- Follow IT policies for backup, change management, and incident reporting.
Support & Documentation
- Provide L2/L3 support for server, hosting, DNS, and database issues.
- Handle support tickets, maintain documentation, and perform root cause analysis (RCA).
- Collaborate with internal teams for complex issue resolution.
- Monitor daily backups, SSL renewals, DNS synchronization, and server resource usage.
Optimization & Planning
- Participate in capacity planning, performance tuning, and service optimization.
- Assist in migrations, deployments, and version upgrades of hosted applications.
- Ensure high availability (HA) and redundancy for critical systems.
- Support after-hours calls as part of on-call rotation when required.
